3月25日，廣州新機場項目在佛山市高超區正式開工。作為粵港澳年夜灣區世界級機場群的關鍵拼圖，該項目總投資418.08億元，計劃于2030年建成，旨在徹底改變年夜灣區航空資源“東強西弱”的身心診所設計格式。
新機場定位為平易近用樞紐，本期工程將建設2條遠退休宅設計距平行跑道、一座面積約26萬平方米的航站樓及94個機位。建成后，預計年搭客吞吐量達3000萬人次，貨郵吞吐量50萬噸，飛機起降26萬架次。選址高超區使其地處佛山、肇慶、江門、云浮四市地輿中間，直接服務周邊超2000萬生齒，有用填補珠江西岸航空服務短板。
為實現高效聯運，新機場將引進廣湛、深南、珠肇等多條高鐵及城際鐵路，同步構建“五橫四縱”高速路網。通過綜合路況中間，搭客可實現航空與軌道路況的同層值機與無縫換乘。在效能分工上，新機場將與廣州白云機場構成互補：白云機場聚焦全球航線網絡，新機場則側重差異化布局，配合支撐廣州國際航空樞紐能級躍升。
設計上，航站樓吸取佛山祖廟、龍船、醒獅等元素，采用六指廊構型與交錯拱屋頂，寄意“千龍競發”。項目周全對標“安然、綠色、聰明、人文”標準，融會5G、人工智能等技術打造“自治”機場，并貫穿碳中和理念。隨著臨空產業加快集聚，這座現代化樞紐將成為驅動珠江西岸經濟高質量發展的新引擎。
